Biographical Info

Cathy Sonnenberg attended the New England Conservatory of Music on a full scholarship. She studied piano with Veronica Jochum and Theodore Lettvin, and chamber music with Benjamin Zander. She sang in the Conservatory chorus directed by renowned choral conductor Lorna Cooke DeVaron and under the baton of Seiji Ozawa of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Cathy has given piano recitals in the Canary Islands, Madrid and Boston, played cabaret shows in Philadelphia, and conducted and accompanied Camden Catholic High School’s chorus. She performed in the Liberace Revue at the Tropicana in Atlantic City and served the Marian Anderson Historical Society as pianist for the unveiling of the Marian Anderson Stamp at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. She has also accompanied NY City Opera baritone Robert McFarland.

Cathy works with 3 different groups of people with disabilities: She is Associate Director of Joyful Noise, a chorus hosted by Bancroft, she is Director of SAIL SINGS, sponsored by Jewish Family Services in Cherry Hill, and she teaches at the Hollydell School for children. Formerly organist at Embury Methodist Church in Collingswood, NJ and St. Mark’s at the Crossing Episcopal Church in Williamstown, NJ, Cathy currently serves as Organist at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Glassboro, NJ. She accompanies music students at Rowan University and is the mentor for pianists and instrumentalist at The Arts 4 Teens Festival at Rutgers University, Camden, NJ.

Biographical Info

Madison Marcucci is a recent graduate of The Juilliard School. Making her solo debut with the Ocean City Pops Orchestra at the age of 11, Madison has performed several times at New York’s Lincoln Center as first violinist with the Wisteria String Quartet. She has won first place in numerous competitions including: the Strings International Music Festival Concerto Competition, the Strings International Music Festival Bach Double Competition, the Warminster Symphony concerto competition, the Manalapan Battleground Symphony Orchestra Competition, and the Philadelphia Biblical University Concerto Competition. Madison has performed in Master Classes with Kimberly Fisher, David Kim, William de Pasquale, Todd Phillips, and Richard Amoroso, among others. She has appeared as soloist with the PIMF Chamber Orchestra, Temple Music Prep’s Youth Chamber Orchestra, the Manalapan Battleground Symphony, the PBU Orchestra, and the Ocean City Pops Orchestra. While at Juilliard, Madison was selected to participate in The Juilliard School’s Gluck Community Fellowship program. She is also a recipient of the Starling Scholarship and the Braverman String Quartet Scholarship from Settlement Music School. Madison currently studies with Kimberly Fisher, Principal Second Violinist of The Philadelphia Orchestra.

Ms. Joan Topper

Biographical Info

Joan Topper studied under the tutelage of Toby Appel at The Juilliard School and earned her Bachelor’s degree in violin performance from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, where she studied with world-renowned violinist Ilya Kaler.
As a violist, Miss Topper has performed with Ballet Next, New York’s elite independent ballet company founded by international ballet stars Michele Wiles and Charles Askegard, as well as the AXIOM ensemble of Lincoln Center and MusicNow, the contemporary ensemble of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
She currently teaches violin and viola lessons at her home in Mt. Airy, PA and is on the faculty of the Chestnut Hill Music Academy.
